  DUBLIN VISIT (1)
     July 2004

I go to Dublin by Aer Lingus E1157 on July 12
at 10:40 a.m. from Heathrow in London where
I stayed  for 4 days. I had already arrived at
Dublin at 12 o'clock though it flew delaying
about 30 minutes.

Hereafter 4 days Irish trip just starts. It is
long-cherished Dublin for me since I visited

another Dublin in Ohio state of USA.

  (Tour Bus)

 A. Dublin City Tour

 (A Map of Tour)

Landmarks of the Dublin city has comparatively concentrated on a compact
region. Main places are a category to be able to go around on foot.
However, the tour bus called Hop on hop off free getting on and off of 24
hours is convenient. There are two kinds of tour bus. The bus will go
around for one hour and half in Dublin.

We can not walk to places where No.14 Guinness factories and No.17 Pheonix Park in Western area.I didn’t get off at all first and next get off and get on according to my favorite.

   B. Trinity College

I arrived at the hotel at past 1:00, but
unfortunate check-in is 3:00. I took a
lunch in the hotel, but still early. I left
the hotel where center in Dublin  and
walked to the north of O’Connell
 Street.
I could see Trinity College immediately
after I crossed River Liffey.

This university is a prestige
college in Dublin created by
Elizabeth First in the end of
16th century.

The handmade Gospel that a library possesses is the famous goods of this
university. It is said "Book of Kells" made by monks of the ninth century.
There are many people in the library in spite of
weekday. People are pushed
out by the assemblyline operation of sightseeing.

I rather expected it in many the book- shelves of the second floor. It is a
photograph on the left. Unfortunately taking  a picture was prohibition.
This depends on the post card which I bought in the first floor souvenir shop.

  C. Grafton Street

will go to the north from the university, it’s
the Grafton street. There are a lot of people,

especially  youths in the street although I
walked in this street in daytime of Monday
and Wednesday during my short stay in
Dublin. In the Grafton street any cars are
off-limits.

I could find several street performers such as street musicians and
pantomimers in the Grafton street.
visitor tipping a beer mug is not
rare on the terrace of the restaurant. It is still before 4:00 p.m. when
I watch a clock.

As for two people of this pantomime, both the face
and the hand were covered
in gold dust. When I put a
coin in box of his  step
written as “Thank you”,
his right hand with feather
moves and stroke
 my
head. I took several
photographs of him.

There are young people
who raise the voice
twanging the guitar on
the other hand, too.
