Journey of PORTUGAL 日本語版

     Lisbon Visit
  OCT.2003

I participated in a tour named "Portugal large tour for eight days"
on October 28. The trip of the Europe in late fall is the first time
for me. What kind of clothes should go in ? Portugal that faces
the Atlantic Ocean where the warm current flows is not colder than
France and Germany in the inland. However, the rainfall increases
unlike summer after October.

This tour was via  Paris by Air France.

AF-279 flights of the departure from
9:55 a.m. The model is Boeing 777.

Next morning when I arrived at Lisbon on
Wednesday, October 29, I strolled around
the hotel until leaving of the bus. The
hotel in Lisbon of the first day was in
the northern area of city. When walking
I caught sight of the building of the dome
like Islam style. It was under construction
but I understood it a bullring of Portugal.

The bus leaves the hotel at 9:00 a.m.
It is city sightseeing of Lisbon in the
morning. Lisbon City is a town along
River Tejo as wide as the sea. The
first destination is "The Tower of
Belen." The tower was  built to watch

ships in the river in the 16th century.
We do not have time to enter to the
inside and take photographs from the
  outside.  Fortunately, the weather is
very good and we can see River Tejo
  leading to the Atlantic Ocean.

And there is a famous " Monument
of the Discovery" near the Tower.
It was built in 1960 in commemoraー
tion of Prince Enrique who was a
pioneer in the Age of Geographical
Discovery of Portugal in the 15th.

         ( Torre de Belén )

Next we visited Jeronimos Monastery
near the small hill. Manuel 1st built it
in 16th century by
 the wealth obtained
by Great Navigation of Vasco da Gama.
We could see the stone coffin of Vasco
da Gama in the church.

                     (Parão dos Descobrimentos )

  (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos )

We got on the bus once after Jeronimos
Monastery, but get off near immediately.
It was a shopping in the souvenir shop
of Portugal. I was visiting alone the
Tropical Botanical Garden near the shop.

We retuned to the downtown in
Lisbon and took lunch at the
restaurant Botequin do Rei of
the hill
 where we could look
down at the city. Our tour
members are 24 person. And
a tour conductor is the first
man for me. A driver is a
Portuguese.

While my returning  the bus after the lunch I met again
a Japanese business man together with his aged mother
by chance. Yesterday they sat on next seats of me in
the plane to Lisbon from Paris.
 He said that he guided
her Portugal with the car.

We will go to Ebola from Lisbon this  afternoon and the
next day go straight north, to Porto.
