   London Visit (1)
       July 2004

"U.K. Irish traveling alone" started from  July 8, 2004.
I
visited London after an interval of three years.
Heathrow express is very convenient for us,
because we are able to go Paddington station
for 15 minutes
from the airport. I have reserved my hotels near the station.

                    (At Heathrow Airport)

The airplane arrives at 3:30 PM almost near the schedule,
although the plane left Narita delaying 30 minutes.
It is rainy and windy in London. Temperature of London
is about 16 degrees ,I hear announcement of the weather
in the plane.

I will stay in London for 4 nights first and move to Ireland.
I want to visit Cambridge, Brighton and also ride on the
London Eye during my stay in London, because I could not
take gondola last time
in spite of rain and too many people.

I decided a try to the London eye in the evening as I was able to
check in at the hotel at past 5:00.
In London we are able to take
photographs after evening during summer. I will go to Waterloo
station
by tube of Bakerloo line. This station is the Eurostar
starting point to Paris.

Rain stopped almost. I was said by staff of ticket counter that it is possible to ride on within ten minutes inspite of too may people. Because there are 26 gondolas, 650 people can get in one round about 30 minutes. Admission is 11.50 pound (\2,400) per person not cheap at all.

The gondola is rotating slowly and I do not feel
the shake at all. River Thames appears before
my eyes as the gondola goes up. The sky in
the west is bright though the weather of London
is never good. It had already past at 8:00 PM.
I could see  National Diet Building and Westminster
Abbey  on the opposite bank of River Thames.

I enjoyed to take photographs on the
gondola for 30 minutes soon after my
arrival of England. I came back to the
hotel of Paddington before 10:00 p.m.
I admonish myself when I do not
become the high pace from the first day.
